Textile applications

Textile applications
Modern textile finishing offers a variety of effects. Independent of the fibre type, effects such as smoothness, wear comfort, easy care properties, body or antistatic behaviour and last but not least the soft handle can be mainly achieved in modern finishing. All these effects can be easily and efficiently realised with modified siloxanes. The product range of CHT/BEZEMA comprises modified silicone oils and numerous aqueous emulsions for producing high quality, functional textile softeners.

Aminosiloxanes
Amino-functional siloxanes are probably the most important product group in the field of textile softeners. The siloxane chain is modified through monoamino or diamino alkyl residues. Aminosiloxanes vary in terms of nitrogen content and the chain length of the siloxane. These variations determine the handle, yellowing resistance and reactivity of the siloxane on the fibre.
  • Very soft, smooth handle
  • Improved sewability
  • Good elastic recovery of knits
  • Improved elasticity

Silicone quats
In the siloxanes with quaternary modification, the so-called silicone quats, the nitrogen groups are modified in a special process. The essential parameters of their application fields are the high substance activity out of aqueous solutions combined with a good hydrophilicity, a very soft handle and a distinct antistatic behaviour.
Silicone quats can be combined with organic softeners and other silicone components to hydrophilic softeners which are indispensable for finishing modern, functional textiles.
  • Excellent hydrophilicity
  • Very soft, full handle
  • Very good stability in jets

Silicone polyethers
Silicone polyethers are polydimethyl siloxanes which are modified with ethylene oxide / propylene oxide segments. They represent the product group with the most versatile application fields among the organosiloxanes. The modification of the hydrophobic siloxane chain with hydrophilic polyether groups leads to products with a distinct surface activity. They are mainly applied as hydrophilic and soil release agent.
  • Excellent hydrophilicity
  • Natural handle
  • Good soil release behaviour
  • Improved penetration and wetting behaviour

Amidosiloxanes/ aminosiloxanes
Amidofunctional / aminofunctional siloxanes have a very low yellowing tendency and are therefore applied in resin finishing. Amidosiloxanes / aminosiloxanes vary in terms of the nitrogen content and the chain length of the siloxane and in the modification of the end groups. Due to this modification of the end groups new effects are produced which distinguish them from the aminosiloxanes:
  • Specifically soft handle
  • Very low yellowing or even no yellowing at all
  • Improved hydrophilicity
  • Antistatic behaviour
